We will start our consideration of political data by use of English political documents. The below framework is a repository of primary source documents we will utilize by transforming these documents into dataframes for NLP analysis. First we must categorize and tag data appropriately, with the below one such categorization framework of sources we can work with further.

English Political Documents
One of four surviving copies of the 1215 Magna Carta. This copy is one of two held at the British Library. It came from the collection of Sir Robert Cotton, who died in 1631. In 1731, a fire at Ashburnam House in Westminster, where his library was then housed, destroyed or damaged many of the rare manuscripts, which is why this copy is burnt.

Description: Beginning with the birth of Francis Bacon, and ending with the publishing of Thomas Hobbes’ masterwork, this period covers the birth of the English Enlightenment until the British revolutionary period.

1652-1775/1776

Description: Following Hobbes’ Leviathan and continuing until the publishing of Adam Smith’s An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations

1776-Present

Description: Beginning with the American Declaration of Independence and continuing to present
